How to Perform Salat ut-Tasbih: A Step-by-Step Guide

Salat ut-Tasbih consists of four rak’ahs (units of prayer) and involves the repetition of the Tasbih phrase in various positions. Follow this guide to perform the prayer correctly:

Step 1: Make the Intention (Niyyah)

Step 2: Begin the Prayer

  1. Start with Sanaa:
    Recite “Subhanak Allahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabaarak asmu-ka, wa ta’ala jaddu-ka, wa la ilaaha ghayruk” (سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ أَسْمُكَ وَتَعَالىٰ جَدُّكَ وَلا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ)
    Then, recite the Tasbih “Subhanallahi wal hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar” (سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ) 15 times.
  2. Recite Surah Al-Fatiha:
    Recite Surah Al-Fatiha (الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَـٰلَمِينَ) followed by another Surah (preferably a short Surah from the Qur’an) before going into Ruku.

Step 3: Perform Ruku (Bowing)

Step 4: Stand from Ruku

Step 5: Perform Sujood (Prostration)

Step 6: Sit Between Sujood (Jalsa)

Step 7: Second Sujood

Step 8: Repeat in the Next Rak’ah
